Calm down. Stop taking yourself so seriously. I know it must get lonely up there on that pedestal of sanctimony. My depiction of the 1847 American is not "mean" or "uncharitable" at all. My depiction of a present day American was, of course, a caricature but not at all off base. Half of the people in this country are on entitlements and many more have no problem with liberty being taken away in favor of fabricated "rights" to things like birth control and free food.

Absolutely, have at it

Save the sanctimony brother. Half of the people in this country are on some sort of tax payer funded entitlement. We don't need people like you to try and "put it in proper context". The proper context is that our country is being bankrupted by a government that encourages us to be parasites rather than participants. Liberty can't survive when one is given the option to become a ward of the state rather than suffer discomfort. Wake up. It's not ok to be a sheep anymore.
