@1997FordProbeGT That would actually be the lifters making that noise. Mine did it until I put oil treatment in it, then it quit ticking so loud.

I now have a Gsix 2001 Limited Edition (my old username was lucasmollet, it got hacked) and the G5 went bad on me. I love my Gsix though, and this time I got all the attachments minus the floor buffer and the turbo kit. It is awesome!

The Kirby I have was found on the curb, and it works perfect. I don't care about the warranty, I just like the machines, but I WILL NEVER pay for a brand new one, unless I got a really good price on it. They are good machines, but not worth paying $900-$2900. No thanks, I'll keep my Gsix 2001 ...

@annat915 This is a 1968 remake. It was released by MCA for a short time in the early 80's. It was a greatest hits albums or something, I have it around my house somewhere.

@TheLucasMollet And the reason is not a Laser. Is A) Laser's weren't made with the American 1.9 these had, and they are other obvious differences...

The Preferred we had was a side-mounted attachment model. We bought it in 98 at our Walmart for 139 bucks.

@shmuli9 The only thing that make it triple action rather than dual action is the fabric softener dispenser cap. If it has a cap, it is considered a triple action.

@shmuli9 Well, all my grandma has had is Roper/Kenmore machines. I like maytags too, but I we have always had kenmore/ropers in the house. Personally, I like the fast agitation of a Roper/Whirlpool/Kenmore direct drive. So rinsing I prefer in the Roper.

@tmmaston I realize this may be a little late, but you should be able to pop the cap right off, by lifting it, and then they should be under there. Should be simple after that.

yeah, it's fine, it's draining neutral (nothing moves when it does that, it's not supposed to) and when you open it up it does cause the transmission engages into forward which is the spin gear. It's normal.

I had a Kirby G5 that I used on my rug before I took that out of the box, I took it out, turned it on, and it pulled to the max line's worth of dust out of my rug 3 times!
