Concept of Peace in Islam

The Word "Islam"

The "root" of the word "Islam" in Arabic is SALAMA which is the origin of the words Peace & / or Submission, a submission to God and peace to all humanity. It is, thus, no wonder why the salutation in Islam is: "Al-Salamu Alaikum or Peace on You."

In this regard, prophet Mohammad ordered his fellow Muslims to salute others Muslims or non-Muslims with peace when he said: "Peace Before Speech"

It is a Rule in Islam that during war time, an enemy warrior who pronounces the word peace is totally immune.

What does the Qur'an say about Christians?
Answer: In the Qur'an, Christians are often referred to as among the "People of the Book," i.e. people who have received and believed in previous revelation from God's prophets. There are verses that highlight the commonalities between Christians and Muslims, and other verses that warn Christians against sliding towards polytheism in their worship of Jesus Christ.

Commonalities:

"Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians -- whoever believes in God and the Last Day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord. And there will be no fear for them, nor shall they grieve" (2:62, 5:69, and many other verses).

"...and nearest among them in love to the believers will you find those who say, 'We are Christians,' because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant" (5:82).

"O you who believe! Be helpers of God -- as Jesus the son of Mary said to the Disciples, 'Who will be my helpers in (the work of) God?' Said the disciples, 'We are God's helpers!' Then a portion of the Children of Israel believed, and a portion disbelieved. But We gave power to those who believed, against their enemies, and they became the ones that prevailed" (61:14).

Warnings:

"If only they [i.e. Christians] had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness from every side. There is from among them a party on the right course, but many of them follow a course that is evil" (5:66).

"Oh People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion, nor say of God anything but the truth. Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, was (no more than) a messenger of God, and His Word which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him. So believe in God and His messengers. Say not, 'Trinity.' Desist! It will be better for you, for God is One God, Glory be to Him! (Far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is God as a Disposer of affairs" (4:171).

"The Jews call 'Uzair a son of God, and the Christians call Christ the son of God. That is but a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. God's curse be on them; how they are deluded away from the Truth! They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of God, and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary. Yet they were commanded to worship but One God: there is no god but He. Praise and glory to Him! (Far is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him)" (9:30-31).

What is there to say about me and how shall I start? My channel is to take on any discussions about Islam. I am a revert and was born and raised into a christian family. I used to HATE ISLAM because i believed very much what my parents believed as much as I believed what I have seen on the TV. At some point I came to realize some things. Remember there are MORE than 70 groups of Islam just as there are more than 70 groups of Christianity. The 3 monotheistic faiths are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, all 3 are going to Paradise becasue they are of the Book and are the 3 divine faiths but no matter the case, we are all equal in humanity regardless.

Ask anything and insha'Allah (God-willing) I will do my best to help and answer any concerns you may have and if you are not Muslim and don't agree with Islam, I have been in your shoes, I used to hate it. Trust me it's not an easy decision but it's what my heart chosen and I haven't backed out still to this day. The more I learn day to day the more I feel closer to Allah (meaning simply, "The God") and all Islam really is, is simply believing in ONE GOD, we love Jesus (peace be upon him), and there is a whole chapter in Quran dedicated to Jesus (Isa) as well as all prophets and even the Virgin Mary (Maryam) who is one of the most purest women of all times. Best role model.

Islam is not much different than Judaism and the Authentic Christianity, we have all the same prophets and same belief's especially what is in the Old Testament for sure. We all have fasting and praying, we all have Jesus, we all have Mary and so on. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE is the LAST PROPHET, we declare that there is NO GOD BUT ALLAH, AND MUHAMMAD IS THE LAST MESSENGER. This is very simple and learning the true beauty and simplicity of Islam is what made me come closer to it and it is truely the last religion of God.

Bear in mind people and many groups who call themselves Muslim have not fulfilled their name and overlook what is right in front of them, EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER OF THE QUR'AN BEGINS WITH "BISMILLAHI RAHMANIR RAHEEM" meaning "IN THE NAME OF ALLAH MOST COMPASSIONATE AND MOST MERCIFUL." The same God we all know is most compassionate and merciful, our Creator.

All Muslims greet each other regularly with "Salam Alaikum" meaning Peace be among us" so we are supposed to always greet each other in peace. Same as any faith sent forth from God.

MANY BELIEVERS OF ANY FAITH CAN BE MISGUIDED BECAUSE IT'S EASY TO FOLLOW OUR WORLDLY DESIRES OF THE FLESH RATHER THAN THE PURE TRUTH SENT BY GOD.
