The eyes, the mouth, the curve of the cheek line, and the shading are all wrong. The coloration is too harsh, and displays none of Vermeer's soft delicacy.

The magic of this work is that the girl appears as though she had just slowly turned her head and noticed the artist, and he captured that precise moment.

Vermeer created perhaps 10 works that are superb; the rest are secondary. He, along with William M. Harnett and Maxfield Parrish, are my three favorite artists. But Parrish is always first.

The only car that I'm aware of that is actually worth $8 million is the 1928 Dusenberg SJ Dual-Cowel Phaeton, and they don't come up for sale, either privately or at auction, very often.
