I became an Atheist after I had read a few books to which I was curious about. I suppose I thought they would be amusing. What happened next is not what I had expected to happen. I saw my own reflection as if I were looking in a mirror. A reflection that literally frightened me. Who was I, and what was I doing? What have I done? It's a realization of my shame, of my own ignorance. My world collapsed before my very eye's as if a curtain had lifted before me to tell me what reality is. And I couldn't just shut my eyes anymore and pretend it was not there. I cried in my own anger of what I was, and what religion had turned me into. These books as simple as they seem have done something to me, something I can only try to understand.

And in trying to understand, I realize how religion and organized religions really operate. How I behaved. How I dehumanized those who did not follow my religion. How I manipulated and preyed on peoples vulnerabilities to convince them I was right, and they were wrong. The kind of system I had supported, partaken in, and defended. And as if by magic, there came the spark that seeded a rational thought within me. A seed to which had begun to grow. This seed is still growing to this day, much like a tree getting it's first peak of sunlight as it pushes out from the soil from which its seed resided, and where it's roots now begin to take hold. I am no longer bound to bow down. I am free to grow, to branch out and reach for limitless sky of who I am. And for this I will survive the bitter cold of religious dogma without a being scared of the icy cold threat of death, or a fiery burning summer of hell there after. My purpose will become self-attained, and my uniqueness will remain as beautiful as the mountains I call home. A Place where fresh powder brings me to moments I can only call experiences of pure bliss. Experiences that are real. I have found my path in life, and I will not trade this reality of rational thought for irrational and oppressive ignorance any longer. I can no longer give up my freedom of expression, or try to take that away from others. Thus what it is that I am, is what I choose to be. I choose to be free!

Mmmmhmm, and I've heard many such stories spanning the gamut of religions. I could sit here and break down how the testimonial game works, but it wouldn't be worth my time :/ However, I also wish you and your family well. We may differ in stance here, but we are both human beings worth of respect. Cheers! :)
Even the local police and fire department documented some of this unexplained phenomenon.

I've been trying to get a better understanding of things lately and I was once not so rational :/ And I must say that I did learn quite a lot from folks here on Youtube as well. This includes ThunderFoot (science wise), and others who have posted really in depth videos. I'm still quite ignorant of things but I hope to change all that soon :)
