"Think of Tone. . . Think of how he put virility into the Catholic movement, how this heretic toiled to make free men of Catholic helot, how as he worked among them he grew to know and love the real, the historic Irish people, and the great, clear, sane conception came to him that in Ireland there must be not two nations or three nations but one nation, that Protestant and Dissenter must be brought into amity with Catholic and that Catholic, Protestant and Dissenter must unite to achieve freedom for all." Padraig Pearse
I Still cant get over the fact that in this day and age, British colonialism still dictates our lives. Britain has brought nothing but misery to this planet, they left deep scars the world over. They are responsible for more hurt and damage than any IRA bomb ever could have achieved, which brings me to the confusing definition of the word "terrorist". in my view the Brtitish terrorised 1 3rd of this whole planet at one stage. but how convenient they call the IRA terrorists when infact the Brits evidently abused and tormented our community. The IRA stood firm and the bravery they showed is proof they are our Army, it takes a superior man to have the strength and resilliance they had. not a day goes by i dont think about it.
I also believe religion is irrelevant, protestants are our fellow country men, Wolfe Tone is the perfect example of the repunlican movements relationship with protestants. the british created the divide between our communities as a tactic to quell the growing republican community. what does matter is your allegiance. I know that in my childrens lifetimes or even my grand childrens lifetime that they will enjoy the freedom we have longed for. Hopefully they look back at all our fallen volunteers and appreciate the harsh and extremely challenging lifestyle they led in order for our community to have a voice, no greater love as they say.. as bobby sands himself said "our revenge will be the laughter of our children". I am proud of our history, we fought bravely and at one stage had the Brits bending over backwards. God bless all our fallen provo's, i just hope future generations will appreciate their memory, Erín go brágh.
