Hi and thanks for checking out our You Tube page - I'm Roo from The Hunting Agency and these are clips that I've taken during some of my trips, mostly from Southern Africa but increasingly I will be bringing you clips from closer to home (for me anyway!) in the Cotswolds in England.

As you'll probably soon guess, I run a Hunting / Sporting Agency and organise trips for hunters and non-hunting visitors to visit places where perhaps they may never have been before. A house rule is that before we send anyone anywhere, first we will have been there ourselves - there's nothing like first-hand knowledge and experience of a place, and if you take a look at my profile page at the Agency, you'll pretty soon realise that I've been there and done it, not that I'm an expert, but at least you'll know I've been and seen for myself where you'll be staying - so any questions you have will be answered from first-hand experience, including personalities of the Outfitters and staff!

Some of the video clips that you will see here may not make a great deal of sense - it's probably a combination of a) my age, b) my poor camerawork and c) the heat! Anyway, some of these clips are little verbal notes to friends, others are to show you some of the fabulous animals I've stumbled across and the places I've stayed at, and yet others are me passing the time with a smile and a song (kidding) as I drive through 'miles and miles of bloody Africa'! Sure, you can't smell the wood-smoke or hear the sizzle of the steaks over the fire, but hopefully these will give you a flavour for what it's like and for where I've been (lucky sod - I know!)

What you won't see - and it's an ethical decision that we took having discussed the matter at great length, and that's clips of animals being shot.

The reason behind this decision is that regardless of personal interests, the majority of people do not understand hunting - it's just how urban life has conditioned folk, and as a result, many have forgotten that meat in a polystyrene packet used to have fur and a face on. Seeing a hunter stalk and shoot any animal can only been appreciated by someone who'd done it themselves while at the same time the majority of other people will take offence. In addition, while even the best-placed shot will see an animal race away under adrenaline, the simple fact is that I do not think that seeing the death-throws of any creature is entertaining, so we won't be showing any of that here.

I don't want to preach, this is just my personal view, and certainly I understand that a trophy hunter will want a photographic record of themselves with their trophy - I too have quite a collection of myself standing by dead stuff - and if you like movie clips of yourself hunting - great - you go for it, it's just not my personal choice. What I will show is me stalking and getting pretty close to some fine animals - other clips will show you the general environment, give you a feel for the place!

Also, I appreciate that there are many other questions relating to the ethics of hunting that many of the viewers will have, more than I have the space to address here, but suffice to say that on behalf of The Hunting Agency, we believe in fair chase hunting which is ethical, sustainable and humaine - afterall, it isn't about the trophy at all, it's about everything which you had to do in order to be in the right place at the right time with the right equipment and the right mentality with the right outfitter - that's what we do at The Hunting Agency - the trophy really is secondary!
