http://www.Fashio... PARIS - At the Manish Arora show during Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012-2013, models walked against a colorful backdrop of graffiti, spray painted by Parisian artists Rude, Vizion and Broke. The slogan on the wall read, "Life is Beautiful." It fit against the theme of the collection, which was based on Brooklyn street artist Judith Supine who creates fragmented faces on backdrops as part of her art. He mixed this with colorful, fluid prints which were featured on many of the garments. While the silhouettes had a 1950s feminine touch (dresses with oversize hems were commonplace,) there were also sculpted shapes which lent to the urban feel of the entire line. It was interesting to see the way Arora blended the feminine and the urban, adding a street style to silhouettes that aren't typically seen in that way in colors like green, purple, deep blue, red, dark pink, and neon. He added to this colorful element a sense of rich Fall fabrics, mixing in velvet, silk, satin, and furs. The urban theme was also conveyed through a distressed leather and jeans that were created in a collaboration with the Notify Jeans company. At the end, models came down the catwalk in graphic print dresses. The beauty here was the mix and match of tough and sweet, urban and feminine, with bright color adding to the entire effect.
