Hello !! To add further to the confusion , I have this tune on Dacapo , attributed to " Im Auto nach Kiel ( Brooklyn Cakewalk ) " -- eminently whistled by that greatest of siffleurs , Herr Gialdini , Berlin !

unknown brown wax cylinder - any ideas of the tune?
Thi cylinder has suffered terrible mould damage - from aprox 0:40 seconds you can hear the audio more clearly. Not sure what instrument is playing ...

HI , the music is the Overture to Wagner's opera TANNHAUSER, which was recorded extensively by the record companies of the early years.

Sounds more like the Dacapo studio Band in Berlin !! Has it got an E prefix or suffix matrix numberr ? then its a Berlin recording !! So called gypsy bands of the period usually have much m,ore emphasis on the stinged intruments than the woodwind and brass !
