About this user

An artist and crafter from Newcastle Australia. Her photography seeks to evoke a timeless appeal, positioning familiar character archetypes within backdrops of rural landscape and modern architecture. Her previous bodies of works have included a series concerned with fairy tales and folklore that added a contemporary spin on the stories by using modern costume and props.

Shana also has a love of silent films from which she has consistently sourced inspiration over the years.

Shana is also creative in other ways. In her spare time she makes divinely fragranced eco-friendly soy candles (sold exclusively at Blackbird Corner on Darby St) and practices tribal fusion bellydance, a contemporary dance form that takes stylisation from a variety of cultural dances and time eras.
