Hmmm . . . let's see . . . what can I say about myself that isn't already apparent from my videos . . .?

Well, for starters, I am THE single biggest, greatest, and all-time most passionate and dedicated fan of Sridevi, a.k.a. THE GREAT ONE. I am at once enthralled, mystified, and stupefied by her -- her absolute command of the art of acting, her pitch perfect comic timing, the fact that she has carved her iconic status by portraying herself as 'larger than life' and the simple fact that she is a historically significant artist: many popular artists have come and gone, but (apart from Amitabh Bachchan), I can think of no one else who is so regularly cited among actors as being the impetus to their desire to perform. She is an institution in and of herself.

I eagerly anticipate her "comeback" and am confident that she will make the right decisions (unlike Amitabh, who spoiled his legacy, in my opinion) in picking scripts that are worthy of her talent. I hope she gets the best scripts available (are you listening, Vishal Bharadwaj and Deepa Mehta?) In my opinion, there should be entire studios set up in India full of writers and creative talent that do nothing BUT come up with scripts for her . . . she's simply that great.

I must confess that since she "retired" in 1997, I haven't kept up much with Bollywood films save a few here and there. Without Sri, it's like all the color has been drained from the painting and my eyes are no longer fixated with white hot concentration.

That isn't to say I don't like other Indian actors: among my faves are counted Kamal Hassan, Sanjeev Kumar, Rekha, Anil Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla, Manisha Koirala, Saif Ali Khan, Urmila Matondkar, Karishma Kapoor and the sublime Tabu.

My favorite Bollywood films are (in order): 1) Lamhe, 2) Sadma, and 3) Dil Se. I also have a soft spot for "Chaalbaaz", "Mr. India", and "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke." Recently, I was bowled over by "Omkara", a true masterpiece in my book. Ditto "Water", "Company", and "Maqbool".

I hope you like the collection of videos I have of Sri -- I like to look for rare footage that give glimpses of her in her unguarded moments. Keep checking back -- I will be regularly adding more and more!
