The Clove is a band which was formed by pulling out talent from all corners of the Maldivian music industry. The band is more of an "overall genre" band rather than a band which sticks to one genre of music. The clove was formed early in 2007. The main reason for this was that Thotho and the Gang, a band formed with the sole purpose of publicizing Thotho, the young drummer prodigy, had to take a step back for a while in order for Thotho to proceed with his studies. This band morphed into The Clove, with massive changes, such as change in members and the overall style of the band. This morphing formed The Clove.
