About the Avatar:
"It is principally in souls that she (Mary) is glorified with her Son more than in any visible creatures. So we may call her as the saints do, Queen of all Hearts". (St. Louis de Montfort)
About Me:

A cradle Catholic who left the Church at age 18. Prior to leaving, I must admit that I loved the pleasures of sin this world had to offer more than God. There was one problem--guilt. How could I remove the guilt? Rather than confessing my sins to the priest, I decided to exonerate myself by becoming religious. I was convinced that if I read the bible, prayed to Jesus, and tried not to sin the guilt would go away. I had just founded the First Church of Scott. Its foundation was self-righteousness, pride and self-will. Following this path for another 17 years, the emptiness in my soul finally led me to confront my own demons. The chief was named Rebel.

I became disenchanted with so many different interpretations and personalities in my realm all claiming to be right. I was desperately looking for some genuine authority. When I pressed the experts, I was told, "thus and so...but ultimately, you'll have to decide for yourself." God help me! I was weary of being my own pope.

Ever so gently, God the Holy Spirit led me back to the Mass, which I saw in a new light. I joined my old parish. I went to confession. I picked up where I left off - no fireworks, no lightning. Since, my life has become one conversion after another. The guilt of my sins is now removed in the confessional, not by my efforts, but by God's gift.

I had just come home and Jesus was there to welcome me with open arms. I have been feasting at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb ever since, partaking of his sacred Body and Blood in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, his Real and True Presence. I was dead and now I'm alive. I love the Catholic Church and I am thankful that God never gave up on me.

Afterward, there was a reception where Jason and I met the Bishop of Allentowm, John Barres, who asked Jason how he ventured on this journey. Jason said he was called of God, and he wanted to come into all that God had for him. The bishop blessed both of us and I fulfilled a longtime personal desire when I took the bishops hand and kissed his ring. I wanted to honor the office of the apostles and God granted my heart's desire. Deo gratias.

Bishop (to the assembly): And now I speak to you, my brothers and sisters in this assembly: Are you ready to support the testimony expressed about these candidates and include them in your prayer and affection as we move toward Easter?
All: We are.
Bishop: My dear candidates, the Church recognizes your desire to be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and to have a place at Christ's Eucharistic table. Join with us this Lent in a spirit of repentance. Hear the Lord's call to conversion and be faithful to your baptismal covenant.
Candidates: Thanks be to God.

Last night at the cathedral, the catechumens celebrated the Rite of Election and candidates celebrated the Call to Continuing Conversion. This year I sponsored a candidate, Jason, who had been baptized and then desired to come into the fullness of the Catholic Church. Here are some of the words of the celebration:
Bishop: The Christian life and the demands that flow from the sacraments cannot be taken lightly. Therefore, before granting these candidates their request to share fully in the Church's sacraments, it is important that the Church hear the testimony of their sponsors about their readiness.
Have they faithfully listened to the apostles' instruction proclaimed by the Church?
Sponsors: They have.
