About this user
My name is Carter Carter, and no I'm not joking, my first name IS my last name.
I am a sweet, Southern born and raised bi-racial (Black/Puerto Rican) girl from the all American city, known as Chucktown.
I was born on August 13th, 1993, so that would make me a Leo. As fierce as that sounds I have to confess that I'm rather quiet and mild mannered, not to mention incredibly shy.
But there's one thing that helps me crawl out of my shell and that is my love for singing and writing poetry.
I've loved poetry since I was five years old, when my grandmother introduced me to the poems written by the great, Dr. Maya Angelou.
I then discovered my love for music after joining my grandfather at his church where he was the rev, and soon learned all the hymns our choir sang by heart.
To me music is poetry in its most amplified form, so combining what I write in my poetry journal and coming up with melodies for them feels very natural to me.
When I sing and write, it's as involuntary as drawing a breath of air.
It feels like they're second nature to me.
I don't know where I'd be without the two in my life, I believe what I've found in them is my purpose.
When God blesses you with such wonderful gifts, it's a sinful waste not to try to cultivate them to their peak.
So I'm going to do my very best to excel
in the music industry, ever weary not to lose myself and my values along way.
My voice type isn't as high as Mariah Carey and it isn't as ground shaking as Miss Whitney Houston, but what's important about my voice is that I'm not trying to mimic the popular artists of today or yesterday.
I'm just trying to sound like myself. I sing for and from my soul. I'm determined and willing to work as hard as I can to reach, achieve, and exceed all expectations that you have for me.
My name is Carter Carter, I'm soul sistah down for the cause and fighting against our struggles, I'm a princess in training to become the next R&B queen, I'm a young woman who's not afraid to admit my life isn't always full of sunshine, it often rains and so I sing the blues.
Music is my muse and it's just who I am. :)
