A word to the young star:
Recent Friends Requests prompt me to say this to star wannabe's: Get voice lessons from a classical teacher. If you want to be a rock star, get voice lessons from a classical teacher. If you want to be a broadway star, get voice lessons from a classical voice teacher. If you want to sing C&W, get voice lessons from a classical voice teacher. Vocal control is the goal, you get to do with it what you want after the lessons.
The killer for young voices is trying to perform tunes popularized by mature voices, especially stage performance. The local "artistic director" and your mom/dad will go for the early win with a child that can "project" on key until they have no voice at all. Get with a vocal coach who is interested in your "eventual" voice, and listen to them. If they say "Don't", don't!
Work toward being the star you want to be when you grow up!

Easier to say what I don't like: Rap, Hip Hop, any music that is about or written to make a political statement or hatred toward a society or group. I don't like teens that wail on key, or any entertainer that thinks they are a pundit of any kind.
