Its tricky to say as there are lots of recipes out there. Some homemade fondants typically called "rolled fondant" are made with gelatin so this wouldn't be veggie friendly. Other fondants "european fondant" as its typically referred are made with glucose, water and sugar, or sugar, water, and corn syrup. These would be vegan and this is usually what trained pastry chefs would make. Both Wilton Fondant and Satin Ice (tastes best) are vegan to my understanding.
