AT&T in the 60's and 70's used some strange signaling to conduct circuit tests. It's funny, the frequency identified as such never modulated anything but a station ID in English. One station easily heard in the Central US was located near NY City as per it's ID .

The Russians were notorious for the "Woodpecker" transmission otherwise know as Over the Horizon Radar ... was so damn annoying for me in the 70's blanking out a lot of late night SWL listening hmmm, maybe it wasn't the Russians lol

I'm tired after watching this guys video lol ... there are some issues with antenna polarization and the actual focal point is off as well as the plane but it's doable in a kinda crude way, could be lots better as well .... always room to experiment and perfect, that's what it's all about !

I begged the station manager to just try one on a demo basis, the rest was history ... It replaced an old rack mount Ampex that had grenades thrown at it, but it still worked :)
