Batten Disease is the broad term applied to four diseases known as neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, or NCLs. It's a genetic condition, usually diagnosed in infancy or childhood, which causes progressive and irreversible damage to brain cells. Symptoms include blindness, seizures, memory loss, and eventual loss of all motor skills. Although some children with the disease live until their early 20s, it is always fatal. On average, one child is diagnosed with Batten Disease every week in the U.S. We are raising awareness of the disease and raising funds to help find a cure.
