Lets not forget what the brillant Professor said " Some of this information will make people feel extremely uncomfortable ". Christanity was never homogeneous ; and still isn't - think a lot of people are missing this important point and maybe more importantly ask yourself why?

No I don't - compare the gnostic gospels with the narrative ones which are accepted as cannon. The gnostic gospels are much more plausible because they just give a eye witness account rather than the lets try and fill in the blanks gospels.

dear old religion
from what I read, it says Jesus woke them up and began speaking to them... Don't you think it's possible that Jesus shared the entire account with them? |

We are kindred souls professor ; but a gulf exists between us due to circumstances beyond our control. I am no where near as erudite but the same subjects jazz me to no end .
Here's a guestion , if all the disciples were asleep in the Garden of Gethsemane who new what Jesus did or who he prayed to & how was that written down some 60 years later with such canonical authority? |

I haven't seen Hamori's book yet. It does have an interesting title, without doubt. Speed reading? Yes I took courses earlier in life. I practiced it for a while, but have slowed way down now. Ya gotta realize I have been reading at the very least a book a week for 30 years. That doesn't count the myriads of articles from the scholarly journals either. That's not too difiicult.

Kerry What do you think of Esther J. Hamori's book "When Gods Were Men": The Embodied God in Biblical and Near Eastern Literature ' It looks interesting...have you read it and do you have any thoughts on her ideas?
|

|
Kerry. Are you a speed reader? I can't think of any other way you would be able to get through the voluminous material that you are able to digest. I mean you said you have a few thousand books.

Oh I will continue sharing vids and information. I don't even think death will silence me - GRIN! Heh..... maybe that will give the angels incentive to watch over me here and keep me here for awhile. They are probaly saying to themselves amongst each other "Hey! Lets make sure he stay *there* for a while man, when he gets here he ain't gonna shut up either!" LOL!

I love what your doing Keep it up.

Hey Kerry I was thinking of one thing you said. About the whole James thing. i think there may be some truth to this, but we don't have the whole picture. For instance if people two thousand years from now looked at the lds church and what was going on would they see the same issues with the flds church with their claime as succession? After all when the church was organized it had its share of problems, its share of conflict, with the Prophet Joseph and all. Could it be we are seeing some of the same issues in some of the scholarship you are bringing up?
