My hunch is those blades are made of styrofoam. I'm all for lightweight blades, I make mine from Coroflute plastic, but a blade merely spinning doesn't say much. Put a measurable load against them and post that.

How does the compass magnet's polarity react to a non-changing direct-current charge? That much runs upstream of all I understand about such things Also, there's a peculiar background noise. Are you sure you're not just blowing air on the compass pointer?
