In my mind this was the only actual wrong Soames ever did in relation to Irene. It is so wrong but it comes from a place of bitterness for the countless wrongs she's done him. Doesn't make it right but he is the lesser of the two evils in this marriage. Although what he does is entirely unaccept...

She is an awful woman. If she didn't love him she should have just left. Deneying him children is the worste and most horrendous thing she possibly could have done. Her character gains some respect back but I never forgive her for that cruelty to Soames.

Sutton was only in her early 20's when this came out. Two younge for the part of Margurite and not fully developed vocally. She is uber talented but it wasn't the right timing for her to be the female lead. Christine Andreas was a good choice.
