It varies. I've written everything from ballads to thrash anthems. Basically, I wait till I get a good sounding lyric or guitar part and see where it goes from there. Sometimes it involves taking two relatively weak songs and combining them to form one really good one. It's a process but I try to keep it as natural as possible. My music is natural.
