About Me:
The Attic Youth Center is Philadelphia's only agency exclusively serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.
The Attic's mission is to create opportunities for LGBTQ youth to develop into healthy, independent, civic-minded adults within a safe and supportive community, and to promote the acceptance of LGBTQ youth in society.
The Attic offers the following programs and services for LGBTQ youth, ages 14-23:
Counseling- specializing in the needs of LGBTQ youth and young adults
Education Programming- tutoring, homework assistance, study skills, college and vocational prep
Job Readiness Programming- career preparation workshops, assistance with resume writing and job applications, internship opportunities
Mentoring- connecting LGBTQ youth to supportive adult mentors who provide support and guidance on academic and career goals
Health and Wellness Services- HIV prevention services, HIV testing and counseling, case management
Support Groups- young gay men's group, young lesbian group, transgender group, relationship group
Youth Leadership Opportunities- public speaking, activism, peer support, civic participation, youth governance
Arts and Culture Groups- dance, silk screening, photography, acting, singing, fashion, culinary arts, creative writing
Social Activities- parties, field trips, community events
The Bryson Institute of The Attic Youth Center - provides trainings, workshops, and consultation services to schools, universities, social service agencies, and faith communities on improving the climate and support systems for LGBTQ youth.
