I could be off base but the bassline sounds like " Gonna Make You Mine" from Loose Ends. Bass seems tweaked to get the wobbly effect. The record was a rare b-side from 1986 so it goes to show you that Dilla had some deep crates!
The female singing on this track is inspired by Sade "Kiss of Life". You can tell Doom is big on the R&B/Soul Classics. A lot of Anita Baker stuff to. A Trekie addict, Comic Books, old cartoons, etc...You really get a perspective of who Doom is when you listen to his records.
Guru included his actual parents in this video. His mom at the supermarket and his pops on the couch. His father was a judge, his mom was heavily involved in the community, and his brother Dr. Harry Elam specializes in the drama arts. The family is quite awesome.
