.223 is way too small. For a semi-auto a .308 is ok but for a sniper you need the distance. Get yourself a .30-06 or a .300.

Did you any precise-shooting over long distances like 500 or 800 m? I'm thinking about buying me a Howa 1500 .300 WM, too. But it seems a little too cheap to be a good sniper rifle...
