Formed in 2008, Akaviri have been building a name for themselves in the Portsmouth area steadily as their performance and composition skills have steadily progressed. Their music has developed within the past few years as a couple of additions to the line-up took place. Their style comes from a range of genres, incorporating elements of thrash, progressive and heavy metal (and even some breakdowns) to create something refreshing.

A lot of the music is based around the guitar parts, everything from the catchy riffs - which are often harmonized to create a bigger sound - to the articulate lead sections. It can be heard that both Ben and Matt are on the same wavelength when it comes to writing and playing music, working together to bring the best out of their material. Yet each has their own individual style that can be heard in their soloing and composition. Both drummer Ollie and bassist Ivan create a driving rhythm section that is the foundation of the music without which the band's sound would not be the same. Sam's vocals cover a wide range of styles, from powerful singing to intense growls. Some sections with backing vocals create a mix of gritty and clean vocals that remains melodic throughout. This all comes together to make Akaviri as they are today.

Finally the most recent addition of frontman Sam allows the guitarists to expand on their parts without compromising for the vocals that were previously sung by Matt. The band continue to progress and recently won a local Battle of the Bands as their first performance with their new and completed line-up.
