@brucew44guns the iron lung cummins were built up to 335 hp. about the same time, cummins started offering the turbo on the 743 in. motors, this was the 262 Cummins.

to give you a ballpark fuel consumption estimate, a properly tuned/maintained diesel will consume 11 gallons of fuel per hour per every 200 hp it's developing. remember, this is variable, dependant on how hard you work your engine.

Back when the Marine Corps first got the D-7's, I used to move them with the old M-52 , a 5 ton multifuel with the 2 axle M-172 lowboy. Later on before i was discharged, I took over one of our deadlined 10 Ton M-123's, got it back in service after some work, and moved a few more D-7's with that.

@wannalayya the knocking was just normal diesel detonation. that "whistle" wasn't the turbos as the engine rpm came back down, it was more likely that the brake saver was engaged just a bit

nice job leaving a ski jump to get on the bridge. There should've been a screwman on both sides to control the angle of attack as the tracks made contact with the bridge. As soon as the tow point starts to lift, start turning.

There were pieces of tillage equipment designed and built for this particular tractor. Yes, it does move, and when hooked to it's equipment, this tractor can till averaging 1 acre per minute, at one gallon of diesel fuel per minute. 1 gallon of fuel per acre is an acceptable standard in farming.
