@russellmilkins You're more than welcome. Funnily enough, the open tuning secret is precisely why so many people struggle to get it to sound right. I get a big thrill from being able to 'unlock' the padlock for those giving it a go on this one, so to speak.
On reflection, I actually think I wrote...

@russellmilkins Let me give you a helping hand. The guitar part is written and played in an open tuning. ie; try tuning your strings to the chord of E Major by raising the 3rd string (G) by a semi-tone to G#, then raise the fourth string (D) string by a full tone to E and finally raise the fifth...

@zepploid (FYI) - We put this song together in 1975 & I am quite sure that not one of us was listening to The Doors back then. We just weren't 'West Coast' orientated at all. Don't get me wrong, I saw & liked The Doors at the Isle of Wight Festival in1970 but I went there to see Free and Hendrix....

@DickLodge68 You're almost correct. Midnight Special was, for us at any rate, recorded entirely live. Top of the Pops was as you say with us recording a backing track for live vocals to be on the show itself. Don Kirschner used a previously made film of us. To clear it up, this particular video ...

@victoriaindigo Actuallly, I didn't know he had 'his' very own private back-up singers. The band's back-up singers weren't too bad, for that matter. You can hear them on this track, funnily enough.

@alanbstard4 I believe it's actually Fresian, Monsieur B'Stard. English of the 15th century is not that far off modern Fresian.... a little more Dutch than German, so to speak. Chaucer is an example of this worth noting.

Eleventh Earl of Mar - Live (Mike introducing)
1977, Southampton
The 22nd Earl of Mar, (Scotland's answer to Colonel Custer,) was pretty much responsible for the failed uprising following his bizarre act of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory at Sheriffmuir in Nov 1715. Bonnie Prince Charlie wasn't actually born for another 5 years so I'm not really surp...
