Pretty funny comments above --- Frusciante and Mayer are very good guitarists, but like the man says, Trucks is doing something different. The other guys wind up sitting around and admiring it.

Ry Cooder is an outstanding player. But be serious, he's not in Sonny Landreth's class as a slide guitarist and Ry knows it.

Thing about virtuosos like Sonny -- or Danny Gatton -- they don't seek much recogniztion. And the music they write isn't all that popular. But the other musicians know.

So we're back to this 'who's better' hoo-hah. Look, they're both terrific. And neither one is Sonny Landreth. The best electric guitar player in the world is probably somebody few of us have ever heard of.

It's just the way these things work.
