Francesco Teopini

Asturias by Isaac Albeniz in the original G minor Key

My Twitter page http://www.twitter.com/#!/t... This is me playing "Asturias" from the "Suite Espanola op.47" by Isaac Albeniz: this piece was originally written for piano, and in this video I play my own transcription for classical guitar....

"Asturias" has become a very famous piece of music thanks to the transcription which Andres Segovia made and performed many years ago....after him, many other great players made their own transcription, but everyone of them changed the original G minor key to E minor....so I got the original score, and I tried to be as faithful as possible to the original...

The biggest feature that my classical guitar colleagues will notice is that I used octaves instead of triplets in the fast part: actually, this is how Albeniz wrote it for the piano, instead Segovia had the (very effective) idea of playing it in triplets....

Oh, before I forget: Asturias was also made famous by the rockband called "The Doors", featuring it in their song called "Spanish Caravan"....

Anyway, I hope U will like my transcription....and also my playing!!! :-D Show less
