Atheism is not a religion -- there is no dogma to follow, no scriptures to read, no deity to worship. Purely boiled down, it is not believing in a God or Gods. It is not an assertion that there is no God, or can be no God. Show me proof for the existence of an intelligent, supernatural being that is capable of intervening in natural law, and I'll believe in God. It's pretty simple. Comparing not believing in God to a religion, is like comparing not playing hockey, to a sport. Atheism is the very absence of religious belief and faith.
If a baby is born without a belief in God, then that baby is born an atheist. There isn't any data to suggest that babies believe in anything from the moment of birth.

You're manufacturing data for what's in a baby's brain.

The word 'not' doesn't change hockey into being something other than a sport. Atheism is a religion because it contains faith and deities. You want it to be something else so that you can win an argument, but I can site another case authority. The law hears cases about atheism because it's a religion.

Bias, prejudice, and position makes it impossible to understand. All the cases and evidence in the world can't stand up against your imagination. You imagine something is so, and there's not a damn thing I can do about it. Michael Newdow is a doctor and an attorney. He files suits to have the word 'God' removed from money, the pledge and when the President swears his oath of office to God placing his hand on the Bible based on atheism being his religion.

@ shizzleman8 - Yes, atheism means not having a belief in deities. If you were attempting to suggest that atheism is somehow actually a belief system or religion, then it is no more either of those things than not playing sports is a hobby. Not sure what you were trying to communicate with your "god damned invisible green failry (sic) that lives in all of their assholes" comment. I don't believe in invisible green fairies, anymore than I believe in an invisible Supreme Being, or Santa Claus.
An infant's mind is free from belief systems at birth. A mind has to be informed of, or indoctrinated to, a concept before it can believe in it. Without a belief in God, a person is atheistic. Thus, all babies are atheists.

a lack of belief in deities -- nothing more, nothing less <= Here are the quantifiers: lack, more & less. Belief in deities is what you still have. See Kaufman v. McCaughtry 2005 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Atheism currently protected under the 1st amendment's establishment clause.

You're equivocating. I'ts NEVER 'nothing more' with the godless. It's always something more with some god damned invisible green failry that lives in all of their assholes and only comes out to speak when a theist pops up.

Aside from all the nonsense Boddahism posts (which makes it obvious that it is all a psychotic lie), another indication that she is a total liar is that she will not stand for anyone to talk back to her. Just a crazy person. Glad you enjoyed the conversation though. Thanks. Take care. Andrew

Hey, about that Boddahism person.... This shut them up. Go to the video about Courtney Love's mother (just search those terms) and then look at when "Boddahism" started to tell me about Courtney's mom. I responded that if I wanted to see Courtney's mom, I would only have to drive 20 miles south to Corvallis, Oregon. (I don't want to see her, by the way.) And then I mentioned the fact that Kat Bjelland's uncle just gave me a video tape of a performance of mine; absolutely true. (Search for the video "Andrew Olivo Parodi in Nutcracker with Willamette Ballet 2011.) Funny thing, but I finally saw that Boddahism person shut up. He/she is a total phoney.
