and make your own film adaptation, which should be no more than three-minutes long. You can record it on a mobile phone, digital camera or camcorder; the key thing is that you use your imagination to make it come alive. You can ask your friends for help, or ask them to perform in your entry, but there can be only one named individual per entry. Only an individual can win.
When you have filmed your clip, upload it to a computer and post it as a video response to Terry and Mark's video: http://www.youtube.com/watc.... (You can of course ask an adult for help, as you must be 13 or over to register for a YouTube account.)
Then email the url (the web link of your clip), along with your name, age, address and the name and contact number of a parent or guardian to:
nation.competition@guardian.co .uk
The closing date is midday on Friday November 27, after which a panel of judges - Terry Pratchett, Mark Ravenhill, director of the National Theatre Nicholas Hytner, and Guardian theatre critic Lyn Gardner - will choose a winner and five finaists for each of the two age groups: 10-14 and 15-17.
What you'll win
All ten finalists, plus a parent/guardian, will win tickets to see Nation at the National Theatre on13 December. The two winning entries will then be refilmed, with the winners' full involvement, and shown as part of the NT Live broadcast on 30 January, which will see the play screened simultaneously at more than 300 cinemas around the world. The winners will be invited to attend a screening at a cinema of their choice along with a parent/guardian.
