A guide on how to play and gear a Sage or Sorcerer in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Talent Specialization: 7/18/16 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUr4K9... Check us out on youtube at : http://www.youtube.com/ruin Or at our website at : http://www.ruinnation.com
Hey guys, Anyday from Ruin Gaming and today I'm going to talk a little bit about gearing up as a sage. I know I touched on the topic briefly in a previous video but I didn't cover where to obtain certain mods and enhancements.
So in this video I plan to talk about where to get certain mods and enhancements whether it be for healing or dps. In my research, I've found that there are quite a few rumors as to how to obtain these mods, such as ''they don't exist'', ''they are not obtainable'', or that they ''exist only in certain gear-sets'' and while some of this may be true, a lot of it is largely false. However, obtaining these mods will not be easy unless you have a large guild or a large pocket at your disposal.
So - let's get right into it. Every mod and enhancement in the game exists natively as bind on equip, meaning it is possible to either put them up for auction or to buy them at the auction house. The mods we are interested in are Mettle and Aptitude. The enhancements we are interested in are Adept and Battle. If you're a healer, you'll be more interested in the Volition enhancement.
The level 25 Mettle and Aptitude A mods are the easier ones of the bunch to obtain. The Mettle mod can be found in the battlemaster forcemaster chest piece and the Aptitude A mod can be found in the battlemaster forcemaster head piece.
The Aptitude Mod, Adept enhancement and Volition enhancement can be found off the bountyhunter encounter or second boss in Karagga's Palace, whereas the Battle Enhancement can be found off the Council encounter or fourth boss in Eternity Vault. In order to get these bosses to drop these, however, the encounters must be completed in hard or nightmare mode in either 8 or 16 man.
Now that it's understood the ways to obtain these mods and enhancements, I'll talk a little about what statistics I try to aim for on my sage. Because I want Surge to have the best possible turnover rate, I need my crit to be as high as possible. At around 35% critical strike, surge surpasses power in dps output. Since willpower also increases critical strike rating -- you will also value willpower over power such as in the case of the Aptitude A Mod.
My ultimate goal is to have most of my gear in Aptitude A mods and Battle enhancements, but this is a goal to work toward using Mettle and Adept enhancements, and is not easily achieved right out of the gate.
Finally - with this specialization and stat setup, I find that the two peice force-mystic and two piece force-master set bonuses to be the best. It could be argued that four piece stalker set is the best but due to a high amount of crit I already have and the loss of the two piece force-mystic set, I don't feel it is a good exchange.

As a note, the talking was recorded after the actual video was recorded, just as a test to see how well I could do something like that.
