Q: What's TAS?
A: A tool-assisted speedrun (abbreviated TAS) is a speedrun movie or performance of a video game produced by means of emulation and using features unavailable to regular players, such as slow motion or frame-by-frame advance of the gameplay, and re-recording of previous portions of a performance. The idea is that such "tools" compensate for human limitations in skill and reflex, facilitating gameplay techniques that are otherwise impossible or prohibitively difficult. Producers of tool-assisted speedruns do not compete with so-called "unassisted" speedrunners of video games; on the other hand, collaborative efforts take place.

Q: How do you walljump?
A: First things first, Mario needs an X speed of at least 32 (use RAM address 7E007B to find the speed, its one byte and unsigned) and needs to be moving downwards. Next, you need to try and "catch" the wall. In order to catch the wall, you need to land on top of a block in the wall. This spot is called the "16th pixel". Test many different combinations and use multiple savestates to catch this spot. When Mario does land on the wall, you'll notice he bounces up, and his Y speed will change to -6 (RAM address 7E007D, 1 byte unsigned). The annoying thing about SMW is that the graphics are two frames slower than button presses are. In other words, you can not jump on the same frame you catch the wall. You have to jump a couple frames before, so repeat your button presses from the last savestate and jump.
