Well, I'm posting again. I think we shouldn't forget the psychedelic lineage of Genesis and this, for me, is their most beautiful track!

My No.1 when Radio Caroline played my top thirty on air way back in the 70s!

WOW! This is a fantastic video to go with the great, yet, disturbing song! I can't remember when I first heard it - a few years ago - but I downloaded it right away. Why aren't Tindersticks better well-known? I mean, really, the narrative behind these lyrics is just stunning!

I love this song - it's structurally very complex - it is about 5 songs in one! This is the best video, for this fabulous track, that I have found on youtube. I don't understand why you don't have more hits.

This is a great version of the song. If you download the single from 'reputable' sources it isn't as good as this OGWT rendition! Also, the pink suit worn by Adrian Belew kinda makes it!

I wrote an MA essay oriented around 'Pinball'. I love that BP is still respoding from a psychogeographical perspective to the aesthetics of place....

Yoko Ono had a difficult time as the partner of John Lennon during his life - both from a xenophobic and antifeminist perspective (as did Linda re: Paul). She has always handled it graciously and never sunk to the level of the gutter press.

I heard that Paul McArtney also occasionally uses the echo feature in the voice recording in the same way that John Lennon does. I didn't notice this until I saw a recent documentary. I think it adds to the mystical quality of this track...

One of the best singer-songwriters of that period, and of all time!

Love this. Know nothing about jazz, but saw this on BBC 4, I think. One of my only connections with jazz, other than Miles Davies, was my interest in The Lennie Felix Trio (1960s) and Eddie Henderson (1970s).

I love this track - being both a Phil Collins (and Genesis) fan and Earth, Wind and Fire. And, what a great video! Love that weird leg-shaking thing that Phil C does - even tho' it's a bit odd and disturbs me slightly! Also, didn't people love knitwear in the 1980s ; )

Wiki describes them as a "power rock trio"! This was a great single: however sad that it was a one-hit-wonder as it is really great!!

Please, please re-release this album!

@Cyhunt Interesting that you should say that, not just because I agree with you, but some of their songs are very similar...

I must just add, that I don't really understand how it is missed out of their 'back catalogue' when other bands, "such as Pink Floyd - who I am also a big fan of, get reconised for their early roots. This is an essential 'marker' for anyone interested in the genesis of Genesis!
