About Amateur Performances
I found out about this free software, virtualdub. It can be downloaded from
http://www.virtualdub.org/. This is a fantastic program as it will let you use your camcorder as a video source and the audio from your line input as the audio source. The commerical video editing software I've purchased don't let you do that!
I use this in conjunction with my Sony Handycam connected to my laptop by firewire. I feed the line-out from my Technics FA-1 or my Yamaha Electone to the audio input on my laptop.
I then edit the video using Windows Movie Maker which comes free with Windows XP and Vista.
My first two videos were made with a Logitech webcam and Magix video editing software which resulted in horrible results with dropped frames and audio/video synch issues. I'll rerecord them later using Virtualdub.
