This July, the group of transplant recipients from eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware will be competing along with hundreds of others during the 2008 U.S. Transplant Games -- not only for athletic glory, but also to prove the power of transplantation and honor the donors who made it all possible.
This year's trek to the Games involves a short trip, as Pittsburgh will host the 2008 event from July 11-16. There are 148 recipients from the Gift of Life Donor Program region will comprise the 2008 Team Philadelphia. Joining them will be more than 300 other supporters who include donor family members, living donors and loved ones.
The U.S. Transplant Games is a biennial, Olympic-style competition for anyone who has received a life-saving organ transplant.
