Zim didnt get canceled because people thought zim was stupid. it got canceled because Nickoloden thought it was too inappropriate. so the creators of zim (Jhonen Vasquez) said, "can we atleast make an ending to the series?"
Nickoloden said yes. so the creator of zim started working on new episodes to finish the series but while they were working on them, Nickoloden cancled the show anyway. Jhonen Vasques said that he might make another show, but never with liars like Nickoloden again.

They are playing zim again this summer because people wanted it so bad. but they will not be making new episodes anymore :(
