TATOLI BA KULTURA is a research project that aims to gain the materials and knowledge necessary to establish the future Academy of Creative Industries in Timor-Leste.

The research identifies products and skills, historic materials and artifacts, tangible and intangible culture through fieldwork research and access to inter/national collections and databases. The research will provide the basis to develop a locally focused curriculum for an educational institution that would centre on conservation and innovation.

The team is led by Prof Tony Fry from QCA, Griffith University in Brisbane. The project is coordinated in Dili by David Palazón (Designer & Filmmaker), other team members include: Maria Madeira (Painter & Educator), Elena Tognoli (Illustrator & Educator), Gibrael Carocho (Visual Artist), Nelson Turquel (Photographer & Musician) and Victor de Sousa (Filmmaker).

The project is set in collaboration with the Secretary of State of Culture and the Director General of Culture in Timor-Leste and funded by AusAid.
