TRY-TONE is a two female and three male Japanese a cappella vocal group. In 1994, the group released its first album,"Etoile~story of 12 constellations". Atsushi Tago and Chizuru Matsunaga who are the original members and Aika Watanabe, and Hajime Aoki who came in in 1996, and Osamu Tago who is a younger brother of Atsushi and came in in 2008 are today's 5 members. With brilliant raibow-like harmony and vivid rhythm they have created an original TRY-TONE sound. Their repertory covers various genres ranging from Standard Jazz and Pop tunes, hot latin numbers, children's songs, to their originals. Their stage, filled with the harmony of pure human voices in a homemade atmosphere, attracts various generations. In addition, they recieved high commendation from abroad. In April 2001, their album "A Cappella Magic Box" earned the prize for the best a cappella jazz album of Best Recording Awards under the sponsorship of CASA (the Contemporary A cappella Society). They have also developed other international activities. In May 1998, TRY-TONE was invited to Singapore as a guest of the AKA a cappella festival. In November 1999, the group performed in Seoul, Korea and In 2002 and 2003, had joint concerts with a Korean traditional music singer,Kim Yong Woo, in many parts of the nation. The newest album called "Nijiiro-no Harmony"which means rainbow-colored harmony will be released on June 4, 2008.
トライトーンは、女声２名・男声３名の混声ア・カペラグループ。 卓越したハーモニーワーク、生き生きとしたリズム、人の声とは思えないヴォイスパフォーマンスなどを用い、音楽のジャンルを問わない選曲、ユニークなアレンジでトライトーン独自のサウンドを生み出しています。笑いあり、涙あり、変化に富んだ心温まるステージは、世代を超えて、多くの人々を魅了しています。
海外からの評価も高く、２００１年４月、アメリカのＣＡＳＡ（Contemporary A Cappella Society America）主催、Best Recording Awardsで、アカペラ・マジック・ボックスが最優秀ジャズアルバムを受賞しました。１９９７年シンガポール、１９９９年韓国ソウルで公演。２００２年、２００３年には韓国の伝統音楽歌手キム・ヨンウー氏と、日本国内各地でジョイントコンサートを行ない、さらに２００４年には韓国で公演・テレビ出演するなど、国際的な活動も展開しています。２００５年にはパルコ劇場にて初のミュージカル「最悪の人生のためのガイドブック」に出演し、川平慈英、森山未来等と共演し、新たな世界を体験しました。
２００８年より、北村嘉一郎に代わり、初代トライトーンメンバーの多胡オサム（3rd多胡淳の実弟）が再加入。２００８年６月、キングレコードよりアルバム「Eternal」に楽曲参加。同月、Tastone Recordsよりニューアルバム「虹色のハーモニー」をリリース。現在はライブハウスをはじめ、ドリームプロジェクト主催のホールコンサートを定期的に行い、好評を得ている。また、全国各地の学校公演も積極的に行い、声でつくるハーモニーの魅力を若い世代にも伝えている。
