MARCELO TAS/ bio
Marcelo Tas, 47 years old, is a writer, actor and journalist. Since the early eighties, he has being developing new formats in short fiction, series and documentaries on Brazilian television (from cable to national networks). As his famous alter ego, the "roving" reporter Ernesto Varela, Tas has interviewed the main Brazilian personalities. Also, as director and actor, he was in the group that created the two most important TV series for children in the country: "Ra-Tim-Bum" and "Castelo Ra-Tim-Bum", both at TV Cultura, the national public network.
Tas is one of the Brazilian internet pioneers. For six years (from 1998 to 2004), he was the host of "Vitrine", a live show on technology and communication, at TV Cultura.
As a columnist and writer, Marcelo has published texts on IT in several Brazilian newspapers and magazines such as Folha de São Paulo, O Estado de São Paulo, Veja, Trip and Isto É. Because of his creative role on contemporary Brazilian TV, Tas has already being awarded with the Fulbright Scholarship and the Rockfeller McArthur Foundation Grant, both in the United States.
Today, Marcelo Tas is the anchor of "Blog do Tas" (www.blogdotas.com.br), a video podcast at UOL- Universo On-line, the largest internet portal in South America; and the co-host, with the Brazilian pop singer Lobão and the international top model Mariana Weickert, of "Saca-Rolha", a late night talkshow at Play TV (www.playtv.com.br), a TV network focused on games and new technologies of the Bandeirantes Communications Group (www.band.com.br).
