Raw Mango Salad

Peeled raw mangoes tossed with brown sugar, lemon juice and chilies to form a spicy tangy salad.

Raw Mango Salad

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups peeled and thinly slicedraw mangoes
1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp finely chopped fresh red chillies
1 tsp tamarind (imli) pulp
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 cup thinly sliced tomatoes
salt to taste


Method
1.Place the raw mangoes in ice-cold water for atleast 30 minutes and drain. Keep aside.
2.Combine the sugar, red chillies, tamarind pulp and lemon juice and grind in a mortar- pestle (khalbhatta) till the mixture is coarse. Keep this dressing aside.
3.Combine the mangoes, brown sugar-chilli dressing, tomatoes and salt into a bowl and toss gently.
4.Refrigerate till serving.
