About this user
JOE LEWIS is a gem of Chicago's House Music / Underground scene with music released on his "uber" rare record label "Target Records Chicago" selling Records on eBay for 3 to 4 figure sums. Anyone discovering his music for the first time will be in for a very special treat with his music managing to bridge the gap between the sparseness House / Underground Music and the atmospheric beauty of Chicago and early Detroit.
Joe's DJ career (currently spinning 30 years) all began in 1981 at a local skating rink "The Loop Roller Disco" in Chicago, which was renamed "The Loop Machine" where he was DJing and organizing pack to capacity House Music Dance Parties by the thousands every friday and saturday night. Special guest would include other Chicago House Music Legends; Frankie Knuckles, Ron (Ronnie) Hardy, Farley "Jackmaster" Funk, Steve "Silk" Hurley, Mike Dunn, Armando, and many more.
Following the popularity of "The Loop Machine" Joe hosted his very own Bi-Level House Music Dance Club in Chicago "The Jungle Club" that continued to pack the dance floors to capacity by the hundreds along with DJ Armando & Joe Lewis. Also, Joe's been doing Radio, Television appearances, Interviews, Autographs, Pictures along with Mix CD's and DJing throughout the U.S., Germany, and Great Britain.
Joe first started producing music under the name of "Joe Louis" that were made in Chicago in 1986, his first song released on his newly formed record label "Target Records Chicago" titled "The Love of My Own" which in fact nobody knew it was a secret collaboration with Larry Heard (bka) Mr. Fingers whose name couldn't appear at that time due to an exclusive recording contract. Also, nobody knew the original song title was "The Love of Jamie" which in fact was made and inspired to be sung by Byron Walton (bka) Jamie Principal.
Joe followed this song release with (2) EP's titled "Change Reaction" and "Lost In Tracks" all (3) of these and several other hard to find music classics; "Love Mystery" "9 Lives" "House Beat" "Change Reaction" "Separate Ways" and (68) other music productions released all over the world (over a 25 year span) confirms him as being one of Chicago's most talented and underrated music producer of all times. In 1989: Joe collaborated with Darryl Goodlett to form Chicago's House Music sensation group "Survival" the outcome was one of Joe's catchiest and most recognized song of all times; "Midnight Dancin" which appeared on many of his music productions including compilation EP with Paul Johnson in 1991.
In 1996: "The Beginning and The Ending EP" once more brought Joe to a wider music audience with all of these songs bearing the trade marks of (2) of Chicago's House Music Legends; Larry Heard (bka) Mr. Fingers and Byron Walton (bka) Jamie Principal who Joe quotes as being his (2) greatest music influences.
Joe continued producing massive music on respected record labels around the globe; Sony Music Entertainment, Joe Lewis's Target Records Chicago, Green Velvet's / Cajmere's Relief Records, Peace Frog Records, SSR / Crammed Discs, Slip 'N' Slide Records, Basement 282 Recordings, and Avek Traxs before taking a break from the music era. Now, he is back with a timely compendium and new Music / DJ career planned for review in 2011.
