It is well-documented that many Industrial, Metal and Goth bands have a satanic/Nazi/fascist bent. Not all of the band's fans recognize these Satanic/Nazi associations. It seems that the bands try to promote a cult-like environment among their fans and use this Satanic/Nazi message, as well as a satanic army- or facist Aryan youth movement motif as a kind of dark initiation secret. Those committed fans that are "in the know" realize that there is much more to the band than superficial appearances may suggest. Some examples are given here of performers that use a Satanic and/or totalitarian aesthetic. To understand this subject better, some reading is necessary. The origins of the practice can generally be traced back to the Charles Manson Family, the satanic, apocalyptic "Process Church of the Final Judgment" and the famed early Satanist, Aleister Crowley.
