I live for music; it's, by far, my favorite of all things in life. Rap is my favorite genre, followed by Classic Rock. I feel sorry for most people, though, because they'll never truly know what real Rap is. Instead, they'll rot away their phonological loop listening to the weak, club/crunk, money-grubbing, fashion-related bullshit that pervades the airwaves and television shows. They'll not ever discover how deep, real, poetical, lyrical, emotional, poignant, and artistic Rap can actually be. The mid 1990s was Rap's renaissance, if you ask me. Practically everything that was recorded and released during this period was superbly crafted material. The artists I revere the most are as follows:
Nas, Big Pun, the entire Wu-Tang; especially Raekwon and Ghostface, Mobb Deep back in their prime, Biggie, Onyx; especially Sticky Fingaz, Eminem, Styles, Jadakiss and Sheek, Black Thought of The Roots, Slug of Atmosphere, AZ, Xzibit, Guru of Gang Starr, 2Pac, Common, Immortal Technique, Chino XL, Rakim, Kool G. Rap, Lost Boyz, Boot Camp Clik; especially Smif-N-Wessun and Rock of Heltah Skeltah, Killah Priest, Vinnie Paz, Tragedy Khadafi, Armageddon, Swift of D-12, Ras Kass, Jeru the Damaja, and DMX back in his It's Dark and Hell is Hot days.
