@juanjeremy2012 Plus my phone CPU runs up to about 1.1Ghz, which is quicker than my old winXP laptop in battery conservation mode (when idling, it's around 400mhz, or 1/2 the laptop). I'd say their processors are about similar in terms of sophistication - the laptop medium-low level for it's late...

@theUKatheist It appears to have some kind of teletext code wibbling away at the bottom (definitely not a timecode), which suggests it was on air... and on analogue, and recorded on VHS, no less.

@DeadBeatBlast plus i wouldn't be surprised if it uses some feature of the blitter, or the soundchip itself, further accelerating matters.

heck, even the amiga managed 8-channel with similar sound hardware, and it ran at 7/8ths of the speed :)

if lego made this as a technic kit, it would be the best one ever...

you'd have to have like five christmasses and birthdays all rolled into one to get it as a present because of the cost, but it'd be totally worth it.

I used to dream of doing something like this when I was a kid ... except my dreams were too limited and all I was going to do was add a load of extra batteries and hook them up in series.

I salute you for taking that dream, strapping nitrous to it, then making it real.

I am however respectfully in awe of something that gets about 30x the 3DMark performance of my own machine, which is about 9 years' worth of Moore's Law in action O_O

@Yarach Making anyone work with a Toshiba Satellite is a surefire way to hurt your karma. At least, unless it's been significantly upgraded from stock in the RAM and disk departments...

@Flamorgan Go do the maths to work out how fast they were going, figure out where the video was shot and what the speed limits are there, and recreate the missing right-hand-side of the island to show what else may be happening that we didn't see, then come back and judge whether they're going to...

@KoivuTheHab If you've come up with a way to determine how far apart those trucks are to even the nearest 5 metres from this video, I'd like to hear your results. It's a notoriously difficult thing to do with 2D video shot from head height. Perspective soon becomes deceptive more than a few tens ...
