@RTT8001 Sonny turned down the song for Cher (he ran her career back than) b/c he thought they would loose fans in the South! The writer of the song was married to Vicki Lawrence and convinced her to sing it. I believe it is the slowest song to reach #1 in the history of Billboard!!
