A CONCEPTUAL ARTIST, PRACTICE-LED RESEARCHER AND PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN THE UK

Coming from Outer Mongolia and practicing contemporary art in the UK has been a life changing experience. Questions around distance, relocation, and the identity are inevitably arisen; and my personal experiences became the main theme of my art practice. I am investigating issues regarding national and cultural identities and their current crisis in relation to erliiz/hybrid identity in Mongolia, after 1990. Generating series of reflective and personal essays interlinked with created or collated photographic images of Outer Mongolian border guard, Russia-Mongolian border landscapes, traditional Mongolian garment deel, domestic basket called arag, city of Ulaanbaatar, immediate family and self, producing short videos concerned with sociocultural aspects of post-soviet nationalism of Mongolia are features of my current art practice.
