NOMO bandleader Elliot Bergman has just completed a set of beautiful electric kalimbas that we are happy to offer for sale. This limited edition of 20 (for 20 years of Ubiquity!) was handcrafted in Bergmans workshop out of Alowood, a beautiful hardwood that is sustainably grown in the Pacific Northwest. These instruments sound great acoustically, but they really shine when plugged in to an amplifier or PA system. The kalimbas use piezo pickups to amplify the sound, and are fitted with a standard 1/4 jack so you can plug in to any guitar, keyboard or bass amp. Each electric kalimba is carefully tuned to a minor pentatonic scale, and can easily be retuned to any tonality by adjusting the tines. Bergman attests that this is his best batch of instruments to date and that each instrument plays and looks great.
Bergmans creations tribute heavily to the sound of NOMO, and they have been featured in several NPR segments over the past few years. Check out the video of Elliot in his workshop. Shot on iPhone.

Because the message being delivered is against hate I have made it so that comments can be added directly from friends & must be approved from others. I will not post hate messages on this video.... you know who you are!
"A picture is worth a thousand words" ~ Chinese proverb
Hate is hate & if we dont start teaching our children compassion, tolerence & diversity, hate crimes & overall school violence will continue to manifest itself & when it does it won't take name, rank & serial number, just victims.
"The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed."~S. Biko
If we stop teaching & preaching hate we won't breed it. Hate consumes the heart until there is no room left for love, charity or compassion. That being said, if we teach a child to hate they will hate. Their brains are still growing & it's impossible for them to differentiate hating one person over another, so they just hate. That's a life of misery & outcast that can be saved if we just taught people to love one another no matter who they are, what their sexual orientation is, what race they are, etc. We teach people how to treat us, teach love & we will get love in return teach hate and we will all suffer the consequences. Tolerance isn't about belief, it's about action, we all need to do our part to make change. So, it's not about your personal beliefs, convictions or even about the doctrines of your religion, it's about what you can do to make society more accepting of diversity. A society filled with "cookie-cutter" people would make for a very boring world, one that people didn't think for themselves and were followers not leaders. If we didn't have people that went against the norm & thought outside the box we would live in a world that still believed in segregation & enslavery. I hope that our future generations can look back, years from now, at the treatment & silencing of our LGBT citizens & have the same utter shock of horror that we have today of past civil rights & predjudicial ways practiced by our forefathers.
"Be the change you want to see in the world." ~ Ghandi
Colorblind Lyrics: I am colorblind Coffee black and egg white Pull me out from inside I am ready (repeat 3 times) I am taffy stuck and tongue tied Stutter shook and uptight Pull me out from inside I am ready (repeat 3 times) I am fine I am covered in skin No one gets to come in Pull me out from inside I am folded and unfolded and unfolding I am colorblind Coffee black and egg white Pull me out from inside I am ready (repeat 3 times) I am fine (repeat 3 times)
