The play is called wrong ball and is illegal. Unsportsmanlike conduct on the head coach. It's considered an Unfair Act and is address under high school rules in rule 9-9.
Sorry but you guys who think it is legal are wrong. Unfortunately, these youth league officials didn't know the rule.

The play was not a BC violation. THe player is allowed to catch the ball while airborne and land with either foot in the BC. It makes no difference which foot lands first.
Had he caught the ball with a foot on the floor and then stepped into the BC, it would be a violation.
